Turnover Touches Rs 508.81 Crore

NSE REPORT

The wholesale d ebt market at the National Stock Exchange has witnessed hectic trading activity showing volume of Rs 508.81 crore of which the treasury bills segment accounted for trades worth Rs 170 crore. The corporate debentures were traded for Rs 66.57 crore yesterday.

With the call money market ruling at 3.50 per cent there was strong buying interest for witnessed for the government securities. There were 86 trades done in the government securities segment of which 20 trades were done in the treasury bills segments. There was access of liquidity in the market but yield of government securities did not show any significant fall, said a broker at the NSE. The 364 days treasury bill maturing on April 10, 1998 witnessed eight trades showing volumes of Rs 65 crore and was traded at the weighted yield of 7.5 per cent.

The 12.14 per cent government loan maturing on 2000 was in demand and was traded for Rs 40 crore at the weighted yield of 9.66 per cent against 9.69 per cent yield reported on the previous day

The 11.19 per cent loan maturing on 2005 showed a volume of Rs 35 crore and was traded at a yield of 10.75 per cent. against 10.75 per cent on the previous day.
