Mobile operator Bharti Airtel Limited has crossed the 10-million customer mark in Andhra Pradesh, the second circle of the company to have achieved this feat after Karnataka.
Sharlin Thayil, chief executive officer (mobile services) of Airtel's AP circle, said the company’s customer market share in the state increased to 31 per cent from 29.8 per cent last year.
“In 2008-09, Airtel has added 3 million customers to its network, which is about 33 per cent of the total new connections added in Andhra Pradesh. Thus, it has increased its contribution to the state’s wireless penetration from 24 per cent to 26 per cent. Currently, Airtel covers around 91 per cent of the overall population in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
