Asia has reportedly become the world's top marketplace for apps with its revenue rising by a remarkable 162% in 2013.

Google Play is said to have played a major role in increasing the revenue manifold in 2013.

Meanwhile, the growth rate of App Stores in Asia was much slower with an increase in the revenue for iPhone apps and 64% for iPad apps by 94%, Tech Crunch reported.

However, the growth in Asian App revenue has surpassed other continents including Europe and North America.
