Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its 3G-service in the Tamil Nadu circle. The service is initially available in Coimbatore, Coonoor and Ooty, and would be launched across 38 cities in the next three months. At present, 3,124 sites are in operation for mobile services and 3,262 new sites are planned under this project in the TN circle, of which 1,119 sites are for 3G services and 2,143 for 2G.
BSNL is also allowing customers of 2G service to migrate to 3G free of cost. The service provider has lined up investment worth Rs 1,000 crore, including Rs 130 crore for 3G, for the circle, a release said.
