First Impression: Galaxy S4

If the Samsung Galaxy S3's shape was its talking point, the brushed metal look of the black polycarbonate handset distinguishes the Galaxy S4 from the others. Although the S4 sports a 5-inch touch screen, it is very easy to hold in one hand. The flip side is that the shiny back cover is a fingerprint magnet.

While this is possibly Samsung's first microSIM device in India, we loved the spring-loaded slot. We switched on and were met by the brilliant screen, which wasn't difficult to read in sunlight.

In the short time we handled the phone, the 13MP camera was its standout feature. We were able to get very good shots from within a moving car while on a bumpy road. Photos clicked after zooming in were good enough to turn into wallpapers on our workstations. We experienced no shutter delay as we took a shot the moment the car accelerated and were yet able to capture the subject.

Indoors, there were no call drops but during a couple of calls, the other party couldn't hear us, but we feel the network was the villain here.

We were able to make 'Air gestures' work a couple of times, but not always.

The phone has everything one might expect in a flagship model and should be popular if it has a long battery life as well.
