I am no big fan of wireless cans, but I’d be the first to admit wired ones become a bit of a nuisance on daily runs. Thus, when I got my hands on the Bose SoundSport Wireless (Rs 13,275), I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The pair is light, though a bit big and while wearing them over extended periods wasn’t painful (especially since the tips come in three sizes), you might get strange looks because the earphones are huge and tend to stick out of your ears. That said, they never fell off, despite strenuous exercise and long runs.
I paired it with my iPhone and selected a playlist featuring Calvin Harris before going for my morning run. The two earphones are connected with each other using a wire, which also houses the mic/remote. I found the clip, which I used to pin the pair to my collar, extremely useful to keep the wire at bay.
I tried out quite a few exercises and yet the earphones stayed put. The workout/running tracks seemed just right, and while there was no noise isolation/cancellation, I wasn’t complaining. Answering calls and summoning Siri, too, was seamless. The good thing was, one didn’t miss out on the music, while being aware of one’s surroundings — a life-saver outdoors.
Back home, I tried a few Bee Gees tracks and found the mids dull and the highs a tad underwhelming — Toni Braxton fans might go away disappointed. Also, the battery lasts for about six hours — that’s nearly a week’s usage for me. And it’s sweat-proof to boot!
The Bose SoundSport Wireless is for those who want a wire-free, hassle-free yet extremely capable pair of earphones for their daily jog/gym session/commute.
