Hewlett-Packard (HP), which launched an ultrabook, hybrid device and an all-in-one PC based on Windows 8, today said it expects that devices based on this new operating system would contribute 25-30% towards its computer sales next year.
HP launched a new HP-Windows 8 product line, which includes - an ultrabook, a hybrid device and an all-in-one PC. The new ultrabooks and an all-in-one (AIOs) priced between Rs 59,990 to Rs 71,990.
"Windows 8 is a relatively new platform...If 25-30% of the sales came from Windows 8, we would be very happy," HP India President Printing and Personal Systems Rajiv Srivastava told reporters here.
He added the company is witnessing strong migration to Microsoft's new operating system but more from individual customers than enterprises.
Windows 8, which is designed to work across PCs, tablets as well as smartphones was launched in October in the country.
He added that the products in the market, powered with the operating system would be available for as low as Rs 20,000 but the touch-enabled ones (an important feature of Windows 8) would be priced a little higher.
According to Gartner, PC sales in India, including mobile PCs, fell by 5.9% to 2.9 million units during the September 2012 quarter compared with the year ago number.
