Idea launches BlackBerry services

GSM operator Idea Cellular, today launched its Blackberry service in collaboration with Research In Motion (RIM). Idea will offer a wide range of BlackBerry smartphones and services for enterprise and individual customers on its network, nationally.

BlackBerry services are already offered by Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone and Tata Teleservices.

BlackBerry smartphones will be available from Idea stores and various retail outlets across 15 circles of Idea Cellular's network across the country.

Commenting on the launch, Pradeep Shrivastava, chief marketing officer, Idea Cellular said: “Our partnership with RIM to offer the BlackBerry solution with a rich portfolio of smartphones reinforces this commitment to our customers. With BlackBerry solution, Idea customers can now stay connected and access information in a timely manner, thus increasing productivity and contributing to a better work-life balance.”

Further Frenny Bawa, vice president, India at RIM said: “The innovative BlackBerry solution has proven successful in enabling businesses to mobilise their workforce and it has also proven popular among consumers for its industry-leading messaging capabilities and rich multimedia features. We are pleased to partner with Idea Cellular to expand the availability of the BlackBerry solution in India.”
