Infosys Technologies, which is facing trouble in West Bengal for setting up a development centre, said that it would work along with the West Bengal government to find a solution to the problem. The Bangalore-based company had proposed to set up a campus in Kolkata. However, the state government denied an “SEZ” status for the campus.
The company in a statement on Thursday said, “We had a meeting with the IT Minister of West Bengal, Partha Chatterjee on Thursday; and discussed the issues around the proposed Infosys Development Center in Kolkata. We have agreed to work together towards finding a solution.” However, the company refused to give any more details on the subject.
On Thursday, West Bengal IT minister Partha Chatterjee held discussions with senior officials of Infosys in Bangalore to break the deadlock over the firm's Rajarhat project in the state. The minister met Infosys’ Executive Chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan and head of talent acquisition Vinod Relekar. The company had already paid a land price of Rs 75 crore for the 50 acres allotted to the company by the previous left front government at Rajarhat on the eastern fringes of the city.
However, it has still not got possession of the land.
