Marlabs Inc., a provider of technology services and solutions, has announced its foray into legal process outsourcing (LPO) business. The company is setting up a dedicated centre in Bangalore for the same and has announced to ramp up its headcount to 500 professionals by the end of 2007. | |
According to Siby Antony, founder and CEO of Marlabs, the legal process outsourcing, which is at a nascent stage, is estimated to be a multi-billion dollar business opportunity in the years to come.

"It is fairly well-known that most legal professionals spend most of their time deciding about cases and doing background research with hardly any time for meetings or court appearances. More so in the area of litigations, where right decisions on the case like options for an out of the court settlement can be immensely beneficial," Antony said.

Such decisions need in-depth knowledge of the case and we hope to capture a significant share of this highly potential market using our initial expertise in this area, he added.

Added Sunil Nambiar, head, global delivery centre, Marlabs India, "The Bangalore centre of the company will form the core for the delivery of LPO services and we hope to learn and add more and more value-added services to the current LPO offerings."

The new centre for LPO will entail an investment of $4-5 million. The centre, which is already operational in Bangalore, presently employs 100 professionals. Having strong software development capabilities in the US and India to services its large clients worldwide, Marlabs believes that it can add value in LPO activity with in-house software, thereby reducing dependency on third parties.
