Homegrown smartphone maker Micromax on Wednesday announced the launch of 4G VoLTE-ready smartphone 'Dual 5'. Priced at Rs 24,999, the new device marks Micromax's foray into the premium handset segment.

The company will start selling Dual 5 from April 10. Enhanced security and better after-sales customer service, aside from the massive 13 MP front camera, are some of the key selling features of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based device.

Here are the key features of the new device:

1) Enhanced security is one of the features Micromax is banking on with the Dual 5. According to a report by The Mint, the Dual 5 will come equipped with a standalone security chip, built into its hardware, which will allow encrypted storage of passwords. The report said that the company claims that the device will provide security equivalent to military grade EAL 5+ standards.

2) In keeping with its security-focused theme, the device, according to the report, will also protect user data in the event of a theft. Once the SIM card is removed from the device, it will prompt the user to unlock the phone using the passcode or pattern set by its user. If the user is unable to do so, the data on the phone will be remotely wiped.

3) As part of its effort to ensure after-sales customer satisfaction, the Dual 5 will also come with a one-year device replacement warranty. According to the report, only Apple offers a full device replacement as of now.

4) The new smartphone has a 13 MP dual rear camera with Sony sensors, one with a colour sensor and the other with a monochrome sensor. It also has a 13 MP front-facing camera for slefie addicts. The device can capture videos in 4K UHD resolution.

5) The Dual 5 comes with a Qualcomm 652 Snapdragon processor and of 4GB RAM.

6) The device also boasts a massive 128GB of internal memory.

7) Further, it comes with a 3,200mAh battery with quick charge feature.

8) Given that the device is meant to be the company's foray into the premium segment, it also sports the sleek iPhone-esque looks which are common across premium devices brought out by Chinese brands. According to NDTV Gadgets, the device's body has been built out of a single slab of aircraft-grade aluminium.

9) It has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Super AMOLED 2.5D curved display. The display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

10) The smartphone also sports a finger print sensor, another common feature across the premium segment. According to NDTV Gadgets, the company claims that the sensor can recognise prints in just 0.2 seconds.
