Pervasive Software, a data infrastructure software provider (the software that runs the hardware that carries the data), on Friday launched its operations in Bangalore.

In a bid to diversify its global capabilities, Pervasive India Development Centre has 25 technical personnel on its rolls now. The number will swell to 120 by end 2005.

At the launch David Sikora, president and CEO of Pervasive Software said the development of product engineering and infrastructure in India will allow the firm to strengthen its ability to execute the entire product development cycle, from design to execution, thanks to the expertise and capabilities of the engineering team in Bangalore.

He said, "We are seeing some of the benefits of a globalised production methodology and these benefits are being reinvested back into the business to drive our growth initiatives. With India emerging a software power, we are confident of the potential ."

"As an extension of the US operations in Austin, the India development centre will focus on full-fledged product development, including core R&D work, not just maintenance, that will directly address critical customer and market needs," said Jaisimha Muthegere, director India Development Govt event.
