Tata Tele plans more PCOs

Apart from normal calls, voice and SMS application, the new model developed by Pinelabs, a technology group based out of Delhi, would provide services such as e-recharge, pre-paid top ups of leading mobile networks, airline and railway ticket booking and utility bill payments etc.

TTL launched one such booth in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata very recently and planned to roll out more than 1000 across Kolkata in key locations.

In Kolkata, movie, railway booking and point of sale (POS) facility were under development and could be operationalised shortly. Value added services would come at a separate cost determined by the owner, said Sinha. Call and value added services would be billed seperately.

TTL had retained ICICI Bank to process transactions and had certification from MasterCard-Visa consortium to facilitate sales.
