The government, in a reply to the Election Commission, has defended the early presentation of the Budget by saying that all allocation would be made before the beginning of the financial year.
Earlier, the opposition has asked to reschedule the Budget after the last polling day of UP elections, that is, March 8.
Legal experts said there is no precedent of the poll panel tinkering with the Budget schedule. The postponement of the Budget in 2012 was done by the UPA government at the behest of the Opposition without the poll panel having to intervene, reported The Indian Express.
