NBCC Ltd and Berger Paints India Limited have joined hands to introduce external thermal insulation and composite systems (ETICS), a technology that is most popular in Europe, in India.

“Bolix SA, the Poland-based wholly owned subsidiary of Berger Paints India Limited, and NBCC Ltd have signed a memorandum of business exploration at New Delhi, in furtherance of a joint initiative to bring to India external thermal insulation and composite systems (ETICS), a proven solution for improving energy performance of temperature controlled buildings,” said Berger Paints in a press statement.

ETICS technology is often used in Europe, both in new buildings and in retrofitting, as it guarantees the reduction of the thermal bridges and greater thermal comfort due to the higher interior thermal inertia, providing a finished appearance similar to the traditional rendering.

ETICS is a very cost-effective and efficient solution and much used in Europe. Germany and Poland are the pioneers in this technology though ETICS is now in use in over 15 countries in Europe.

“NBCC and Bolix will jointly promote, develop and facilitate the use of ETICS solutions in building projects in India with the principal objective of reducing significantly the energy requirements for cooling or heading in these buildings which is expected to result in gains in environmental sustainability,” added Berger Paints press release.

Bolix SA manufactures construction chemicals for exteriors, interiors, and ceramics. It offers plasters, adhesives (for insulation systems), paints, materials and systems (for the repair of balconies), adhesives and joint fillers (for ceramics), primers, interior plasters, and other renderings and agents; and EPS-based and mineral wool insulation systems, as well as systems for facade stones.
