GE Power bags Rs 270 cr contract from BHEL

The company will supply two units of 800 MW supercritical boilers for the thermal power project in Telangana

General Electric Company (GE) has been awarded a contract worth Rs 270 crore (approximately $ 42 million) by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to supply two units of 800 MW supercritical boilers for Telangana Super Thermal Power Project, Phase I, located at Karimnagar district in Telangana. The units are expected to be commissioned 2020.

Under the scope of contract, GE - the sole licensor for BHEL supercritical technology - will design the 800 MW supercritical boilers and supply identified pressure parts. GE Power India Ltd (formerly Alstom India Ltd) will assist BHEL with technical advisors during erection and commissioning of the units. Key components of the pressure parts will be manufactured at the company’s facilities in Durgapur.

Out of the total contract, GE Power India’s scope work would be Rs 180 crore (approximately $ 28 million).
