Supreme Petrochem stops EPS polymer production in Chennai due to flood

The company says it will service customers of expanded polystyrene (EPS) from its EPS plant at Raigad (Maharashtra)

Supreme Petrochem Ltd, a producer and exporter of polystyrene polymer, has temporarily stopped production at its expanded polystyrene (EPS) plant it Chennai due to flood. “The operations of the company's EPS Plant at Chennai have been disrupted due to heavy rains and floods. The expected downtime can be assessed only after normalcy returns,” said Supreme Petrochem in a BSE filing on December 3, 2015.
 
However, the company said that it do not anticipate material loss of revenue as it can service customers from its EPS plant at Raigad (Maharashtra).
 
Expanded polystyrene is a rigid cellular plastic, which is mainly used for packaging (such as electrical consumer goods) and for construction (in insulation panels for building).
