The art of motivation was the subject of discussion at the Business Standard Smart Business seminar organised in association with Calcutta Citizens’ Initiative and Rotary Club of Calcutta with the support of Rajasthan Bengal Maitri Parishad and Concern for Calcutta.

Speaking at the seminar, Narayan Jain, a social activist and a motivator, said that motivation works as a miracle in getting better results in any organization. He emphasised the need for motivation in every aspect of life for a drastic increase in productivity. “Motivation encourages people to perform at their best,” he said. 

Management expert Ashok  Purohit spoke on the role of motivation in the growth of businesses. He also shared tips on improving productivity through motivation.

Fashion designer Heena Gorsia warned the audience about factors that could demotivate a team. Prabhat Pandey, former NVP, Indian Junior Chamber, shared his experiences of motivating others, giving practical suggestions. Dr. A.K. Basu, President, Rotary Club of Calcutta, underlined the power of motivation and emphasised its importance for NGOs in carrying out their activities.

Prominent personalities like Justice BL Jain, Jonathan Ward of the US Consulate, Vijay Bhandari, RL Auddy, Nilima Joshi, JS Mehta, Debasish Chattopadhyay, the President of the Kolkata Press Club and other dignitaries attended the seminar. 

Pushpa Sharma, a member of the audience who lost both her legs in an accident at the age of 9, narrating her experiences of successfully completing her MBA and working as a company executive, said that it was all possible only because of motivation.
