NEW DELHI 27 JUNE The central government today gave an assurance to the SupremeCourt that no citizen will be deprived of social welfare benefits under the Aadhaarcard scheme till September 30. The earlier deadline of June 30 has beenextended for those who want to apply for the unique identity card. TillSeptember 30, citizens can avail of benefits showing any other identity , likevoter card, passport or PAN card. AdditionalSolicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench consisting of Justice A KKhanvilkar and Justice Navin Sinha that if anyone is deprived of any facility,the matter should be brought before the authorities or the court. Thegovernment will follow the words of the notification in "letter and spirit",counsel said. The vacation benchof the court was hearing an application against the recent notification onAadhaar alleging that it had violated the earlier orders which confined the useof card only for socially beneficial schemes like food grains or cooking gas. ...
