The government has allocated an additional 1.7 lakh vials of Amphotericin-B drug, used to treat black fungus infection, to states and union territories, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda said on Wednesday. "Ensuring adequate availability and smooth supply of #Amphotericin-B across the country, additional 1,70,000 vials of the drug have been allocated to all the States/UTs & Central Institutions today," the chemicals and fertilisers minister tweeted. Gowda added that an additional 15,520 vials of the critical drug have been allocated to Karnataka. "So far, a total of 40,470 vials of the drug have been allocated to the state including today's allocation for timely treatment of patients," he said. Amphotericin-B is used to treat Mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, which damages the nose, eyes, sinuses, and sometimes even the brain. To ensure smooth supply of remdesivir used in the treatment of COVID-19 across the country, the allocation of the antiviral drug to the states and union territories has been made up to May 16, Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Sadananda Gowda said on Friday. The production capacity of remdesivir has been increased to 1.03 crore vials per month, up from 38 lakh vials per month earlier, the minister had said on Tuesday. "Considering the requirement of Remdesivir in every state and ensuring its adequate availability, allocation of #Remdesivir has been made upto 16th May 2021. This will ensure smooth supply of Remdesivir across country so that no patient face difficulty in this #pandemic time," Gowda said in a tweet. Union minister Sadananda Gowda on Saturday said that substantial increase has been made in overall production and allotment of remdesivir, used in the treatment of COVID-19, to all states. This will make India's fight stronger against COVID-19, the Chemicals & Fertilizers Minister said. In a tweet Gowda said, "After detailed review of state wise allotment of #Remdesivir with @Pharmadept substantial increase has been made in overall production & allotment to all states". A total of 16 lakh remdesivir vials are being allocated to the states and union territories from April 21to April 30, 2021, Gowda said.
The government is continuously working to reduce regulatory compliance burden on the pharma industry in a bid to improve ease of doing business in the country, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers D V Sadananda Gowda said on Thursday. Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday launched the home delivery facility of fertilisers for farmers in Andhra Pradesh. Gowda launched POS 3.1 software, SMS Gateway and home delivery facility of fertilisers for farmers in Andhra Pradesh, an official statement said. The minister said the DBT (direct benefits transfer) system was launched on March 1, 2018, on a pan-India basis that has been working well. He said the fertiliser department has successfully implemented a complex system of end-to-end computerisation of movement of fertiliser in the entire country. The system enables to monitor availability of fertiliser on a real-time basis at state, district and at the retail outlet. The entire fertiliser subsidy for the last two years have been disbursed through this system, the statement said. Gowda was addressing a webinar on Specialty Chemical organised by Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals and FICCI, an official statement said.
