Motor Vehicle Bill

The government on Thursday extended validity of motor vehicle documents like driving licence (DL), registration certificate (RC) and permits till September 30, 2021, in view of the ongoing pandemic

Amendments in the Motor Vehicle Act was passed by the previous Lok Sabha and subsequently lapsed due to the dissolution of the House

The Bill also provides for a uniform driving licence and vehicle registration processes across various states through the creation of national registers

The Bill also has provision of up to Rs 10 lakh compensation in the case of road fatality
