Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on Friday to attend an event in Wardha marking the first anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma' scheme and lay the foundation stone of a textile park that will come up in Amravati. During the PM Vishwakarma' programme to be held in Wardha around 11.30 am, PM Modi will release certificates and loans to the beneficiaries of this scheme, an official release said. The central scheme was launched on September 17 last year to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools. The PM will distribute credit under the scheme to 18 beneficiaries under 18 trades. The Gujarat government and the Centre on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to set up a PM MITRA textile park on a 462-hectare plot in Navsari district. The PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park will come in Vansi-Borsi village and will help the circular economy of the region, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said after the MOU was signed here in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The government on Monday unveiled a scheme for setting up mega textile parks in the country, as part of the Centre's efforts to position India as a fully integrated, globally competitive manufacturing and exporting hub for the sector. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made the announcement while presenting the Budget 2021-22 in Parliament. "A scheme of mega investment textile parks will be launched in addition to the PLI scheme," Sitharaman said. She informed that 7 mega textile parks will be launched in three years as part of the scheme. The mega textile parks will have integrated facilities and quick turnaround time for minimizing transportation losses, eyeing big-ticket investments in the sector.
