TVS Motor's Apache Motorbike Sales

The company hopes its overseas push will help compensate for the slowing sales domestically

The new model is likely to be priced higher by Rs 9,000 to Rs 10,000 than existing variants; bookings start today at company dealerships across the country

Two-wheeler major TVS Motor is expecting a 25 per cent growth in sales of its Apache series of motorcycles to hit 5,00,000 units sales this year. The company today launched a new Apache RTR 160 4v."This (premium motorcycle) industry is growing very fast. This we are estimating to sell the total Apache series about 5,00,000. We will be likely growing around 25 per cent. With this launch, we want to grow,"said K N Radhakrishnan, president and chief executive officer, TVS Motor Company.The series is getting accepted in the global market and it is expected to grow the exports with the launch, he said. At present, the company is exporting around 8,000 units of Apache series per month, while around 33,000 units are sold in India, said company officials.The premium sports bike segment has been growing at around 10 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR), and the company has been growing at around 28 per cent, said company officials.
