India is preparing to build a new digital backbone for cross-border trade through the Customs Integrated System (CIS). Five technology firms — L&T Technology Services, Wipro, IBM India, Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys — are in the race to build the platform. The government is expected to invite bids within the next 15 days. The project aims to bring multiple customs systems onto a single interface, improve trade efficiency and reduce cargo clearance time.
