Why the US has imposed a new 10% tariff on Indian goods

The United States has imposed new tariffs ranging from 10% to 12.5% on imports from 60 countries over concerns about goods made using forced labour. India is among 17 countries facing the lower 10% tariff after amending its Foreign Trade Policy to prohibit imports made using forced labour and adopting international standards. The tariff could affect sectors such as textiles, apparel, leather and engineering goods, although several products remain exempt.
