In yet another development that is expected to reaffirm India's position on the global technology map, Accenture today said it has elevated Bhaskar Ghosh as its group chief executive for technology delivery, and inducted him to its Global Management Committee, making him the only Indian on this top decision making body at the firm.
Ghosh, who is based out of Bangalore, is currently the senior managing director of technology delivery at the New York Stock Exchange-listed company. A former Infosys hand who was then the VP for IT Infrastructure Outsourcing at the Bangalore-based company, Ghosh had joined Accenture in 2003 to head the company's delivery in India.
In his new role, which would be effective September 1, 2014, Ghosh would directly report to Accenture's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Pierre Nanterme.
Accenture has also inducted its Chief Technology Officer Paul Daugherty on the Global Management Committee who would report to the chairman.
In his new role, Ghosh will have additional responsibility for managing Accenture's portfolio of software solutions. He will continue to have overall responsibility for global delivery capability in technology at the company, and for advancing delivery innovation and productivity through the use of intelligent tooling and other automation. He will also continue to lead Accenture's application services business, which includes both systems integration and application outsourcing, the company added.
"I am delighted to welcome Paul (Daugherty) and Bhaskar (Ghosh), two of our most accomplished technology executives, to our Global Management Committee," Chairman and CEO Pierre Nanterme said in a statement.
"I am confident that with their continued leadership, as well as their extensive knowledge of new and emerging technologies and our business, we will continue to drive innovation for our clients and enhance Accenture's leadership position in the marketplace," he added.
