Gujarat-based Rs 40,000-crore conglomerate Adani Group on Tuesday denied the allegations by Arvind Kejriwal that it received cheap land from the Gujarat government. Earlier in the day, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal had alleged the Narendra Modi-led government allotted 14,306 acres to the Adani Group in Kutch at rates ranging from Rs 1 per square metre to Rs 32 per square metre for the company’s special economic zone (SEZ). He also said Modi favoured the Adani Group by manipulating bids on power purchase. In a statement, the Adani Group said the land for the SEZ at Mundra was allotted after due process of law. “The allegation related to coal supply by GMDC (Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation) is baseless. Till date, we have not received any coal from GMDC,” the statement said. Rubbishing the allegations as baseless, the company said they “seem to be motivated and lack deeper understanding of the matter.”
