High-tech engineering consulting company Altran Group is eying India's aerospace technology along with defence and nuclear procurement programmes. Altran contributes at every stage of project development from new-technology strategic planning through to manufacturing. The company has expertise to capitalize in four key domains like product life cycle management, mechanical engineering, systems engineering & embedded systems and IT Systems.

Commenting on India specific plans, Sanjay Kumar, CEO, Altran India said, "Aerospace might just replace information technology (IT) as the country's sunshine sector. India's skyrocketing aerospace, civil & defence needs, estimated to touch $ 50 billion over the next five years, will result in a jobs boom. It is estimated that this sector will support thousands of jobs in design services and manufacturing within the next decade. To bridge the gap, Altran India has resorted to hiring post-graduate engineers and training them. The amount of effort it takes to get an engineer up to speed and benchmark him alongside a global pool of engineers is phenomenal. "

He added, "With strong global presence Altran is looking at both organic and inorganic routes to scale up its operations in India. Indian government is in the process of finalizing major deals with international suppliers of fighter aircraft and nuclear equipment and these international suppliers will be sourcing from Indian vendors the services and products worth 30 per cent of the orders. "

The $2 billion French multinational has already set up India office in Bangalore and also has presence in Chennai and Noida.Currently, its Indian operation employs around 260 people with 240 engineers across their two delivery centers. Some of company's key global accounts like Airbus, Alstom Transportation, and Renault have already been associated with Altran India. It is involved in several ongoing projects offering engineering solutions, maintenance taking care of storage, reprocessing and decommissioning services. The group has been providing services to key players in the fields of aerospace, automotive, energy, railways, finance, healthcare and telecoms.
