Seeks Rs 10,000-crore damages.
In another twist to the feud between the Ambani brothers, Reliance ADAG Chairman Anil Ambani is understood to have filed a defamation suit for a whopping Rs 10,000 crore against elder brother Mukesh Ambani for remarks purported to have been made by him in an interview with the New York Times several weeks ago.
An ADAG Group spokesperson declined to comment.
The defamation suit is believed to have been filed in the Bombay High Court about a month ago, but no details of the 200-page petition were available immediately.
ADAG’s case is understood to be based on an interview given by Mukesh to the leading American publication wherein the New York Times quoted him as making certain remarks, which were found to be defamatory by the ADAG Group.
However, an RIL spokesperson today said that there was no defamation petition filed by ADAG against them. To file a defamation suit of Rs 10,000 crore, a fee of Rs 100 crore is required and Anil Ambani group has not filed it in any civil court, he said. No immediate comments could be obtained from ADAG on the remarks made by RIL.
