Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills Ltd (APPM), part of the Kolkata-based L N Bangur group, has commenced commercial production from its new paper machine imported from Germany at its Rajahmundry unit on Thursday. The new machine has a paper production capacity of 67,000 tons per annum (tpa) of UFS (uncoated free sheet) and copier grades taking. With this, the company’s total installed capacity increases to about 250,000 tpa. By making some modifications, the machine's capacity can be scaled up by an additional 20,000 tpa, APPM stated in a press release.
The operation of the new machine marks the end of the final phase of the company's $ 205 million mill development plan. Earlier, APPM had commissioned a 550 bone dry tonnes per day (tpd) elementary chlorine free (ECF) pulp mill, a 50 tpd coal fired boiler and a 34 Mw turbine.
