Deccan Express Logistics, promoted by Deccan Aviation’s promoter G R Gopinath, on Tuesday announced its tie up with NACIL (Air India) for providing line maintenance and technical handling support to its aircraft fleet and operations.
Deccan Express Logistics, a new Express delivery system will launch its services in the month of May this year and will operate on the Delhi - Mumbai - Delhi - Hong Kong route offering dedicated cargo space to freight forwarders and anyone who wants to move international freight to these cities for time - definite delivery.
The Company is presently preparing to induct its first batch of Airbus A-310 freighter aircraft which are being converted as cargo planes at an EADS facility in Dresden. As part of its operations strategy Deccan Express Logistics has given the mandate to Air India for providing comprehensive and end to end engineering support to its flights and operations.
Said G R Gopinath CMD, Deccan Cargo & Express Logistics said “As a precursor to the launch of Deccan Express Logistics’ services this May, we are getting ready to take delivery of three Airbus A-310 freighter aircraft and we have roped in Air India to provide end to end engineering support for our freighter aircraft fleet and operations. Given the scale and depth of Air India’s resources and capabilities we found them the best suited for our requirements and we are looking at this tie up as a long term and enduring partnership.”
Added K M Unni, Head, Strategic Business Unit (SBU) - MRO (Airframe) Air India said, “Though Air India is supporting international airlines operating in this region, this is the first comprehensive engineering support that we are providing to any airline. Air India has the capability for extending aircraft line support and maintenance at most stations across India which makes the signing of the contract between Deccan Express Logistics and Air India a major breakthrough for us.”
Deccan Cargo & Express Logistics will offer complete end to end logistics solutions including custodial charge of the cargo.
To be ready with its back - end warehouse infrastructure in place, Deccan Express Logistics has signed up with Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), a complex that is being developed by the Maharashtra government, for a hub in Nagpur where work on the project has already begun.
