The EoIs, which can be filed till May 30, have been issued to Fixed Based Operators (FBOs) for restructuring and setting up India's first dedicated general aviation facility.

The selected FBOs would finance, design, develop, construct, operate, manage and maintain the dedicated general and business aviation facilities at airport, including terminal side facilities, airside facilities and maintenance services, a DIAL advertisement said.

Apart from providing handling and catering services for general aviation operations, the facilities from FBOs would include services like special lounges and conference facilities.

Besides air charters or aircraft rentals, the FBOs would also be responsible for aircraft fuelling, de-fuelling and oil dispensing, parking, tie-down and hangar storage, power plant and accessory service, avionics and instrument service.

They would also be asked to plan, build and manage exclusive services for general aviation passengers, who use private and charter aircraft at IGI Airport.

General aviation traffic has been growing at a rapid pace in the country. It is expected that Delhi would also see a tremendous growth in the coming years.

During 2007-08, general aviation traffic grew at over 22 per cent recording nearly 10,000 aircraft movements. At present there are over 200 general aviation aircraft. Considering the number of pending orders, this number is likely to go up to 500 in a couple of few years.
