Public sector firm Engineers India (EIL) today reported a near three-fold jump in its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31 to Rs 158.81 crore.
The company had a net profit of Rs 56.67 crore during the March quarter a year earlier, EIL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Net sales of the company grew 68 per cent to Rs 407.55 crore during the Q4 of FY09 from Rs 242.81 crore of the same period a year earlier.
For the financial year ended March 31, 2009, the company posted a net profit of Rs 344.53 crore, up 77 per cent against Rs 194.59 crore of FY08.
Net sales of the firm also rose to Rs 1,532.46 crore during the 2008-09 fiscal from Rs 737.75 crore of FY08.
Shares of Engineers India today closed at Rs 872, down 2.04 per cent on the BSE.
