Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) has posted a 28.53 per cent rise in net profit for the third quarter of the fiscal on a year-on-year basis at Rs 33.34 crore. Net sales for the quarter, however, dipped from Rs 440.89 crore in the same quarter last year to Rs 416.56 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year due to market conditions, the company said.
The profit before tax for the quarter under review is Rs 48.10 crore, up 33.02 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter last fiscal. The profit before tax for the nine months ended on December 31, 2012 has increased by 41.52 per cent to Rs 215.42 crore as compared with Rs 152.22 crore in the corresponding period of previous year. Similarly, the profit after tax for the said period also increased by 41.33 per cent to Rs 154.62 crore as compared with Rs 109.40 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
