Wind energy major Gamesa India on Monday said it has bagged an order to supply 47.60 MW wind farm equipment to the mini-ratna company SJVN for its upcoming project in Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract involves Gamesa suppling and building a wind farm for SJVN, (formerly Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited) which is a joint venture between the Centre and Himachal Pradesh.
The contract includes the installation of 56 units of Gamesa G58-850 kw turbines and a 10-year operation and maintenance services contract, over the next eight months, the Chennai-based arm of the Spanish wind energy major said in a statement.
"Gamesa-SJVN new contract comes at a time when several states are reeling under acute power shortage and it shows how wind energy can play a pivotal role in being an ideal alternative source of energy," Gamesa India chairman and managing director Ramesh Kymal said in the release.
The Spanish Gamesa has over 25,000 MW of installed capacity in 40 countries. It has production centres throughout Europe, the US, China, India and Brazil.
