The government today approved the revised cost of Rs 635 crore to revamp public sector Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation's Namrup project in Assam.
Home Minister P Chidambaram said, "The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the final revamp cost of Rs 635.53 crore of the Namrup project of BVFCL."
The revamp has already been completed and the units in Namrup have begun production.
The allocation will enable the company to continue the production of urea and will ensure adequate and timely availability of the fertiliser in the north-eastern states, he said.
