Electrical goods maker Havells India is aiming to garner Rs 200 crore revenue from non-modular switches during this financial year and plans to tap 500 rural cities and towns under this initiative.

As part of foraying into the Rs 1,500 crore non-modular switch market, Havells India today launched 'REO' range of non-modular switches.

"We have not tapped this (non-modular) market. And we were not in the lower price range. Anchor was the leading competitior", Havells India, Senior Vice-President, Anil Bhasin told PTI here.

The company has set up a manufacturing facility at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh for producing the switches and domestic switchgear products.

"We will double the capacity of the plant from the present five lakh SKUs a day to one million SKUs a day in the next two to three months. We have invested Rs 60 crore for the plant..", he said.

Noting that the non-modular switch market was growing 15 per cent year-on-year, he said with today's launch of switch products, the company is planning to enter tier II and III cities.

"We have identified 500 towns where we will be appointing dealers. This year, we are planning to appoint 100 such dealers in Tamil Nadu, while across country it will be 1,500 dealers..", he said.

In Tamil Nadu, the company plans to increase its exclusive retail outlet -- Galaxy, from the present 23 to 30 during the next two years, he said.

Havells India has 7,000 retail counters and 200 exclusive Havells Galaxy range of retailers across the country.
