Hudco-NCW team up to uplift living conditions of destitute women

Hudco has spent Rs 43 crore during the last three years under the CSR activities

Housing & Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (Hudco) and National Commission for Women (NCW), today signed an MoU to co-operate and work together for improvement of the living conditions of destitute women.

Under the CSR activities of Hudco, it will set up facilities like women hostels, remand homes, and will make available modern and comfortable accommodation for those deserted and abandoned and services to improve their living conditions and environment.

As per the MoU, Hudco will provide technical support, design and construct / improve living conditions of the women in distress. To begin with Hudco will undertake such project for widows in Vrindavan and Mathura area.

“Hudco has spent Rs 43 crore during the last three years under the CSR activities. This MoU will open new avenues for other public sector undertakings and private companies to come forward to help such organizations like NCW under their CSR activities,” said Ajay Maken, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation.

As per the partnership Hudco and NCW shall cooperate in the areas of re-construction of existing structures where women in distress are housed, providing for living quarters, kitchens and toilets, construction of living quarters, kitchens and toilets in pre-identified sites.

NCW will identify the areas where the activity/project has to be undertaken and address the government organization concerned to formulate a suitable proposal for the purpose along with identification of a suitable implementing agency and Hudco will provide financial assistance for implementation of these projects along with technical advice.
