Herbal ind may touch Rs 15,000 cr by 2015: Assocham

Industry body Assocham today said the market size of the herbal industry is expected to double by 2015 at Rs 15,000 crore on account of increasing global demand.

"Globally, dependence on herbal medicines, dietary supplements and skin and beauty aids will continue to gain greater share in view of the awareness and comfort level which is akin to the use of organic food products," it said.

The chamber said in Europe, North America and China there is a huge demand for herbal products.

The niche market that India can focus on include ayurvedic medicines and dietary supplements (including health drinks), extracts, oils, skin care and beauty aids, it said.
