The 'Incredible India' campaign has attracted around four lakh foreign tourists in June this year as against 370,000 (0.37 million) in the corresponding period last year, data prepared by the Tourism Ministry said.
There were 396,000 foreign tourists in June this year showing an increase of 7.2% in June 2011 over June 2010.
"We have launched a series of road shows and various other campaigns in foreign countries as part of the Incredible India campaign to promote Indian destinations abroad," said a senior Ministry official.
The total number of foreign tourists who visited the country during January-June 2011 were 29.19 lakh with a growth of 10.9%, as compared to the 263,200 lakh foreigners visiting the country in January-June 2010.
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEE) from tourism during June 2011 were Rs 5,440 crore as compared to Rs 4,751 crore in June 2010.
The growth rate in FEE in June 2011 over June 2010 was 14.5%.
