IndiaCan opens centre for broadcast journalism

IndiaCan, a joint venture between Gurgaon-based education content and services provider Educomp Solutions Limited and Pearson Inc of the US, launched its first centre for broadcast journalism in Hyderabad on Friday.

The company has already entered into an arrangement with NDTV Worldwide for introducing the broadcast journalism training programme that leverages the strengths of both partners.

The course content of NDTV-IndiaCan’s 12-month programme comprises news and journalism, camera and editing in media labs. This is topped with special theatre and sound recording workshops delivered by specialised team of faculty, IndiaCan, which currently has a pan-India presence in over 200 retail centres, and over 150 technical colleges via its campus arm PurpleLeap, said in a press release.

According to industry figures, the Indian television industry is expected to grow at 17 per cent, as against the overall media growth of 14.9 per cent. Over 150 new channels were launched in the country between 2009 and 2012, the company said.
