M&M forays in power backup segment in UP

The company is already operating in 6 states in power backup segment

Mahindra Powerol, the farm equipment division of diversified Mahindra & Mahindra Group, today forayed into the home UPS, inverters and battery segment in Uttar Pradesh.

The company, which is already operating in 6 states in the power backup segment, is keen to build up its presence in UP. It currently operates in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Bihar through 37 showrooms.

Mahindra Powerol aims at catering the mass segment in the state through innovative product line and superior after sales service, company’s senior vice president P Palaniappan told the media here.

In first phase, the company has launched its products in Lucknow and Varanasi and plans to follow it up with launches in Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Sitapur, Kanpur and Azamgarh districts, he informed.

“We command good market share in the South India markets and are keen to gradually expand our footprint in other markets,” he added.

Its inverter range starts from Rs 8,000 and goes up to Rs one lakh depending upon the battery and features. The company has launched co-branded batteries for UPS and invertors. Other major pan-India players in the segment are Microtek, Su Kam and Luminous.
