Maiden meet of CII unit aims to create aerospace ecosystem

A committee headed by HAL Chairman aimed at creating a vibrant aerospace manufacturing and service sector in India through an active engagement of all stakeholders from government, PSUs, private sector, global corporations, research organisations among others has now set the ball rolling on India’s dream of developing an aerospace ecosystem.

Some of the key issues of the Indian aerospace industry like the strategy for import substitution, skill development in aerospace, taxation impacting the industry, how to develop and integrate Indian supply chain with the global aerospace OEMs were discussed at the first meeting of the newly-constituted Confederation of India Industry’s National Committee on Aerospace (CIINCA) under chairmanship of HAL chairman R K Tyagi.

Tyagi said, the representatives of these organisations in the CIINCA would work closely with Ministry of Defence and Civil Aviation, IAF, DGCA, other strategic ministries, and states to create an environment for the industrial growth and FDI in aerospace. CIINCA would also like to propose taxation reforms, policy framework for MRO sector, proposals to promote R&D and innovation culture, how to leverage strength of the service sector for aerospace industry.

Airbus Helicopters, Rolls Royce, Honeywell India, SAAB India, Rosoboronservice (India) Ltd, Raytheon Inc, Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd, AAI, GMR Group, Air India and Safran India.
