The master plan for Technocity, a landmark in the IT scenario of Kerala, is ready.
Coming up on 450 acres at Pallippuram in Thiruvananthapuram district, Technocity when fully commissioned will be an integrated IT township, encompassing IT/ITeS infrastructure, residential apartments, shopping malls with multiplexes, hospitals, hotels, educational institutions and other support facilities.
Technocity will have a built-up space of up to 30 million sft with multiple buildings. The estimated investment would be Rs 5,000 crore. The city would focus on areas other than IT such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, high-end manufacturing and research and development.
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) would be setting up its Global Learning Academy with an investment of around Rs 1,500 crore on 82 acres already allotted to the company. The academy, which will be one of the largest in Asia, would train and accommodate 16,000 IT professionals at a time. Infosys, which already has a 50-acre special economic zone in Technopark Phase II, would set up its second campus, also on 50 acre, at Technocity. Technopark would be developing a 50-acre campus for companies to set up their IT/ITeS units on the Technocity campus.
SunTec Business Solutions has also been allotted 10 acres for its campus. Educational institutions that are setting up their centres here include Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management –Kerala (IIITM-K) and Asian School of Business, which has its campus at Technopark.
Technopark has nearly 270 companies providing direct employment to more than 37,000 professionals and 150,000 people indirectly.
The Technocity model will also be showcased during the Emerging Kerala event in September and Gitex held in October respectively, said K G Girish Babu, CEO Technopark.
