Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) plans to increase its contribution of power to the State grid in the next two months, a top official said today.
The state-owned company at present transmits 1,100 MW per hour to the grid.
The power transmission would be hiked to 1,250 MW within two months, NLC Chairman Surendra Mohan told reporters here.
He said total power output of the three thermal power stations at Neyveli is 2,490 MW.
NLC is preparing a list of contract employees and once it was completed they will be taken as "regular employees" in a phased manner, he added.
On NLC's performance during the April-July 2012 period, a company statement said lignite production registered a growth of 3.07%, while power generation was up 9.36% over the same period last year.
Exports of power grew by 10.73%, it said, adding total sales during April-June 2012 stood at Rs 1,331.81 crore which was 9.93% higher than the same period of last year.
