The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has approved in-principle a proposal to constitute ‘Greater Mysore’ to ensure system and planned development of the city.
It has decided to constitute a committee of experts for formulating a comprehensive plan to implement the scheme.
At a meeting held recently, it also approved in-principle construction of 3,000 houses with three floors, ground plus two floors, for economically weaker sections. It decided to invite fresh applications for allotment of sites at Rabindranath Tagore Nagar, a newly formed layout.
Another decision taken by Muda was to rename the Alanahalli extension as Lalitha Mahal Nagar. It considered a proposal to develop the open ground area around the Government House on the lines of Lal Bagh in Bangalore at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore and decided to submit the proposal for government’s administrative approval.
It also decided to send another proposal for building a two-floor spectators’ gallery at the Banni Mantap grounds to the Government for its administrative sanction.
The gallery at a cost of Rs 8.80 crore is proposed to accommodate more people to witness the torchlight parade on the Vijaya Dasami day of Dasara.
