Drug firm Novartis India today said its net profit rose by 21.98 per cent to Rs 40.5 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2010, over the same period previous fiscal.
The company had a net profit of Rs 33.2 crore in the same period previous fiscal, Novartis India said in statement.
Net sales of the company rose to Rs 184.9 crore for the quarter ended September 30, compared to Rs 161.5 crore in the same period corresponding fiscal.
During the September quarter, the company's sales in the pharmaceuticals business grew to Rs 129 crore, in comparison to Rs 113.5 crore in the same period previous fiscal.
The company's generics business posted sales of Rs 11.4 crore in second quarter, compared to Rs 10 crore in the same period corresponding fiscal.
Further, the company's animal health business posted sales of Rs 18.1 crore for the second quarter as compared to Rs 17.4 crore in the same period previous fiscal.
Its Over-the-counter (OTC) business registered sales of Rs 26.5 crore, compared to Rs 20.7 crore in the same period corresponding fiscal.
For the six months period ended September 30, 2010, the company posted a net profit of Rs 72 crore, compared to Rs 65 crore in the same period corresponding fiscal.
The company's net sales for the six months ended September 30, 2010 rose to Rs 353.1 crore, compared to Rs 314.7 crore in the same period previous fiscal.
Shares of Novartis India today closed at Rs 646.55 on BSE, up 0.16 per cent from its previous close.
