Bangalore-based public sector defence major Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has reported 13% rise in net profit at Rs 197.59 crore for the third quarter ended December 2012 compared to Rs 174.64 crore reported in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. Its net sales for the period was marginally up 1% at Rs 1,444 crore as against Rs 1,432 crore in the same period a year ago.
The operating profit for the third quarter went up 27% to Rs 128 crore as against Rs 101 crore in the same period a year ago.
The company has obtained permission from SEBI regarding segment reporting and thus not included quarterly results of its subsidiary company, BEL Optronic Devices Ltd and joint venture companies like GE BE Pvt Ltd and BEL Multitone Pvt Ltd.
The company has declared an interim dividend of Rs 6 per share for the year 2012-13 at the board meeting held on Friday.
