Wins two projects for rural electrification from Power Grid Corp

Diversified group Punj Lloyd has entered the power transmission and distribution sector, winning two projects in the segment from Power Grid Corp.

The company, in a regulatory filing today, said that it has won Rs 488-crore worth projects in the power sector, including "its first two wins in the transmission and distribution (T&D) segment."

Awarded by the Power Grid Corporation both the T&D orders are for the rural electrification of districts in Odisha -- Jajpur, Khorda and Ganjam -- under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY), the company said.

"The scope of the work includes augmentation of the existing 33/11 kv s/s, construction of 11 kv outgoing bay, construction of new 11 kv line, LT lines, installation of distribution transformers and service connection to BPL consumers," it said.

The company also said that it has won its first power project from BHEL for the civil, structural and architectural work of the non plant works and raw water reservoir, roads and drains at the 800 Mw Kothagudem thermal power project in Telangana.

Punj Lloyd President and CEO-Power C K Thakur said: "With the government's vision of 'Power for all', impetus is being given to electrification of villages, keeping them at the core of all the development programmes... Punj Lloyd is proud to play this important role in building a strong power delivery system."

The group's order backlog stands at Rs 21,466 crore. The order backlog is the value of unexecuted orders as on June 30, plus new orders received after that date, the statement said.

The shares of the company were trading at Rs 26.70, up 6.16 per cent in the afternoon trade on BSE.
