PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is looking at adding one acre to its existing 3-3.5 lakh sq ft commercial space. The company currently owns three buildings in Kolkata and has two buildings on lease.

According to Ambareesh Dasgupta of PwC in Kolkata, “We own this unused space next to our existing office in Sector V. We would use this when we expand.” He added, “We have always been hiring and did not bring about any pay cuts. The economy has revived more or less and should be much better off in the next six months. However, during 2008-09, our clients had negotiated 10-40 per cent reduction in our consulting fees, depending on the kind of project. The situation had now improved and rate of projects coming in is going up again.”

According to Dennis M Nally, who is set to take over as PwC’s global chairman from July 1, the firm will increase its strength to over 10,000 employees from the current 6,500 in the next 3-4 years.
